Am I really over a month late in posting about Christmas?  Oh, well.  I just get so caught up in LIFE that I forget to document it!

But we had a FABULOUS Christmas in Tacoma.  I preached at 5:00 and 11:00 pm services at our church on Christmas Eve, and lots of family came down to participate in the family-friendly 5:00 service!  It was a blast to have nieces and nephew (and daughter!) in the congregation.  Here’s a shot of all 5 Schindler grandkids after the service:

Have you ever seen a cuter bunch?!

Then on Christmas Day, Caroline had the privilege of ALL FOUR grandparents and an auntie being present for gift-opening and celebrating before we headed up to Seattle to hang out with the rest of the extended family.  We are so blessed to live so close to the people we love!

Our first "real" Christmas tree!

This is the first year we’ve had a real-looking Christmas tree.  If you recall, the last few years we put up our Target tinsel tree in the living room of our little apartment:

The Tinsel Tree

It might have been designed for the yard, since it came with little stakes to hold it down, but it served us well in the mod little space we had.  But with the new house, and the extra room that came with it, we thought we’d step up a bit this year.  Since I am allergic to live trees, though (I know! the tragedy!), going to the tree farm wasn’t really an option.  Thankfully, we scored this year’s (and next year’s, and the year’s after that…) beauty at a Home Depot black Friday sale for $50.  Nice.  Of course, Caroline undecorated and redecorated it many times between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but that’s just part of the fun, right?

Here’s our SweetPea in her Santa jammes, totally oblivious to the fact that the pretty boxes under the tree actually had GIFTS in them.  She went right along playing with her old toys all morning, just happy that we were all together at home.  Gotta love that:

We instituted a new Christmas rule at our house, that each immediate family member would receive only three gifts: something to wear, something to use/play with, and something to read – and one of the three must be used.  Caroline’s big gift from her parents was her something to play with: a new piano!  She loves to sit on this little bench and bang away. I’m sure she’ll be playing Mozart before we know it.  :)

Child prodigy :)

She also received a hat and a book from her parents, and some great gifts from her grandparents, including a Dancing Mickey (which she calls “mee-mee” and plays with a LOT), and this cool Little People house that her auntie helped her open:

We could not have asked for a better day!
