Long Time No See

Life is just going too fast right now to blog all the time.  I wish you could just drop in and see us now and then – and record it all for my archives – it’d be so much quicker!  And you’d get a better picture of the ups and downs, highs and lows, beauty and… well, tantrums. :)

Here’s a little update:

Our SweetPea turned 18 months old in November.  How that’s even possible is beyond me.  She is like a full-grown kid these days (except she still doesn’t talk super-well).  She’s up to about 30-40 words, at least words that WE understand – you might not know what she’s saying.  But that’s basically just enough to know that she can’t say everything she wants to, and she’s terribly frustrated much of the time.  The rest of the time, she’s incredibly charming and funny.  She’s started “reading” out loud to us in her Yiddish/Japanese language.  She reads us almost every Christmas card we receive.  It’s fantastic.  I’ll try to get it on video soon. :)

At her 18-month check-up, SweetPea was 23.5 pounds and 33.5 inches.  That’s the 75th percentile in weight and 95th in height.  The doctor called her “long and lean.”  Sounds good to her parents.  She still eats like a beast, especially “bars” (granola bars, rice krispy bars, kids’ clif bars, cereal bars – you name it, if it’s a bar, she likes it).  And she’s got the perfect toddler belly that leads her into any room.  I hope she keeps that for a long, long time.

We had some photos taken at the end of November, some of which will be on our Christmas cards, so I won’t reveal those just yet.  But here are two of my favorites of SweetPea and a couple with her Mom and Dad:

We miss our favorite photographer in the world, Josie, who moved with her sweet husband back to Minnesota this summer.  But we were lucky enough to win a photo package at an auction in May and we are super-excited about building an ongoing photographer-client relationship with Cheryl.  Caroline was not exactly cooperative during the photo shoot, as she made it her mission to run away as soon as she saw the camera lens.  So we couldn’t believe there were ANY DECENT photos from our shoot, and we were pleasantly surprised!

Okay, there’s more to come about the list and Thanksgiving, Duke Basketball in the Northwest and our first real (meaning fake but real-looking) Christmas tree, but it’s bedtime for this mama.  Thanks for reading!
