New Adventures

It’s been a big week for baby Caroline!  She had a play-date with a much older boy, spent her first night in a hotel, and has stayed with her nanny for the first time!  What a way to ring in the fourth month of life. :)

Last week Caroline and Steven spent some more quality time together while I kept trying to get into the swing of things at work (not sure I’ve been successful at that yet, but I’ll keep trying!).  One day they even had a play-date with our friend Jika and his little boy Kai-Biko.  Kai-Biko is about 9 months old, so he’s much older than Caroline!  They don’t look like they’re too different size-wise, though…

And I should mention that I am 100% envious of Kai-Biko’s hair.  What a cutie!

To celebrate the end of parental leave, the whole family took a quick mini-break about 90 minutes north of Seattle in Bellingham.  We had such fun!  We explored the little neighborhood of Fairhaven, where eating Mexican food 20 minutes from Canada felt super-weird (but it was pretty good!); held our breath for good sleep as Caroline experienced her first night in a hotel (she did great!  slept all night!); drove around the Western Washington University Campus; walked around the super-cute downtown Bellingham, where there are more resale and consignment clothing shops than I’ve ever seen in one place; and drove the picturesque Chuckanut Drive down the coast.  I totally want to live on Chuckanut Drive, because it’s beautiful, of course, but also because I’d like to have an excuse to say the word “Chuckanut” on a regular basis.

Funny: While I was taking this photo from across the street, a guy actually stopped his car so he wouldn’t ruin the photo.  How nice is that?!

Part of me always worries when someone offers to take a picture of all of us with our camera.  I have this vision of the “nice” stranger taking our camera, pretending to set up the shot, and then running away with the camera with all of our photos inside.  What does that say about me?

On our way home from Bellingham, we happened by the super outlet mall at Tulalip.  Caroline thoroughly enjoyed bargain-hunting, though she didn’t see anything she couldn’t live without.  Mainly because her closet is already full.

In other big news, our church softball team won 2nd place in our league on Sunday!  The funny thing is that we didn’t even know we were playing in the championship game until we got the trophy afterward.  We knew it was the playoffs, but we thought the championship was NEXT week.  What goobers we are.  But check out our trophy!  [And of course my eyes are closed… oh, well…]

The Runners-Up!

Caroline started with her nanny on Monday and so far it’s going great!  I know she’s having WAY more fun than if she was coming to the office with her mom.  Pretty soon you’ll start seeing all kinds of photos of Caroline with her new little friend, Isabelle.  They’re so cute together!

More to come…
