South Africa

Tonight we went back to the zoo to see Ladysmith Black Mambazo in concert.  It was wonderful!  Perfect weather, lots of babies all around us, yummy picnic, and excellent music.  I only wish the sound would have been a wee bit louder to help drown out the folks around us who were more interested in working on their social calendars than listening to the music.

While we were listening, Steven and I started thinking of our trip to South Africa in 2007.  I can’t believe it’s been two years since we were there – and I can’t wait to go back.  Since we’ve had Caroline, I have wanted desperately to show her all the things I’ve seen, to give her the experiences I’ve had, and to introduce her to all the beauty – and perhaps some of the pain – in the world.  We cannot wait to take our tiny girl to South Africa, to meet the amazing people there, to hear stories of the history and dream of a better future for all people, to see the gorgeous landscape and enjoy the rich culture.  She’s probably not quite ready just yet – especially to make the 24-hour flight – but we will take her just as soon as we can.

  1. South Africa sounds amazing. I can only imagine how much you want to share that with Caroline! Maybe in another 6 or 7 years!
